The Office of Irek Kusmierczyk, Member of Parliament for Windsor-Tecumseh, is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Communications Director in the Windsor-Tecumseh constituency office.
The Communications Director will play an essential role in the Office of Irek Kusmierczyk. Under the direction of the Legislative Assistant and Constituency Director, the ideal candidate will lead the communications activities of the constituency office.
Responsibilities
- Assist with updating the communications strategy
- Maintaining an active, responsive and timely presence on all social media platforms
- Manage and update the Member's website
- Creating content for community correspondence
- Designing and drafting communications products (both print and online), including ads, event posters, householders and newsletters for distribution to the riding of Windsor-Tecumseh
- Write news releases, briefing notes, and prepare speeches for the Member
- Attend and document community events with the Member, ensuring appropriate photos, social media and communication products are developed
- Assist the constituency office team in maintaining relationships with community organizations, associations, key stakeholders, and residents, including case work when necessary
- Develop and maintain community stakeholder distribution lists
- Assist the Parliamentary Hill Office remotely
- Other duties, as required
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of post-secondary education in communications, public relations, or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent understanding of social media
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently and within a team and manage multiple projects at one time
- Works efficiently under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to respond effectively to short term demands
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook
- Proficient in graphic design and video editing software
- Proficiency in both official languages will be considered an asset
Hours of Work
Full time. Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends.
