Minister Marco Mendicino Visits Windsor-Essex and Meets with Local Organizations Supporting Newcomers and Migrant Workers

I was pleased to join Minister Marco Mendicino of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada at Highline Mushrooms today to highlight the tremendous regional collaboration and partnership that has fully vaccinated 4,619 migrant workers in Windsor-Essex. That is leadership. Windsor-Essex is a role model for the rest of Canada.
Thanks to the total team effort of local partners: our industry champions like Aaron Hamer from Highline Mushrooms; Dr. Wajid Ahmed, Medical Officer of Health at the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit; Kristen Kennedy, CEO of Erie Shores HealthCare; Martin Varela of the Migrant Worker Community Program; Joe Sbrocchi of Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers; and organizations like the Windsor Essex Local Immigration Partnership among others.
Today's visit was not only an opportunity to celebrate the successful vaccine rollout but an opportunity to meet with and listen to the hard-working migrant workers who have looked after our community. Above all, it was a chance to say Thank You.
