Announcing a total federal investment of $99.3 million in affordable housing in Windsor-Essex
July 30, 2021
I was excited to join Ahmed Hussen, the Minister of Families, Children, and Social Development in Windsor-Tecumseh - along with Mayor Drew Dilkens and Mayor Gary McNamara - to announce a historic $90 million in federal funding for the repair & renewal of our existing stock of affordable housing and an additional $9.3 million through the Rapid Housing Initiative to build 35 new units for our most vulnerable neighbours.
That is a total federal investment today of $99.3 million in affordable housing in Windsor-Essex. This is a historic investment and a game changer for our community.
Together, in just the last two years alone, our federal government has invested $149 million to grow and improve the supply of affordable housing in Windsor-Essex. This is what can be achieved when we work together to come up with housing solutions for our most vulnerable. Everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home.
