Our Work to Build an Ojibway National Urban Park
August 10, 2023
Together, we are building an Ojibway National Urban Park.
Check out the extensive groundwork our Liberal government has put into bringing this once-in-a-generation project closer to the finish line with key partners:
After taking office in 2019, I met with the Prime Minister’s office and the Minister of Environment and Climate Change.
In these key meetings, I strongly advocated for the protection of Ojibway Shores and the creation of an Ojibway National Urban Park.
Alongside partners in the Summer of 2021, our Liberal government announced a historic agreement with the City of Windsor to establish an Ojibway National Urban Park!
In 2022, we delivered over $584,760 - kickstarting community consultations on building a National Urban Park.
Our federal government also signed a key agreement which transferred Ojibway Shores from Windsor Port Authority to Parks Canada - including the land in a future park.
Things accelerated this year with new partnerships and even more incredible milestones.
With each passing week and month, we are getting closer to making this dream a reality for our community.
We still have more work to do, but with strong partnerships - I have no doubt we’ll deliver an Ojibway National Urban Park that everyone can enjoy for generations
